In this post, I will show you an easy way to remove a product from the smart collection in Shopify.
Since you can’t manually delete items, the core solution is adjusting the condition that includes the products.
Firstly, let’s get down to the basics.
What are Smart/Auto Collections?
Smart collection automatically creates a group of products based on rules or conditions you set, such as product tags, prices, vendors, metafields, etc. They can have a maximum of 60 conditions, but there is no option available to add or remove products.
Unlike manual collection, where you hand-pick each product, smart collection automatically updates the product details when any changes occur.
How to Remove a Product from the Smart Collection in Shopify?
You can adjust the collection conditions to exclude a specific product by adding a negative condition.
Let’s say you’ve a smart collection for T-shirts based on product type condition. And you want to exclude a specific product (i.e., Men’s Solid Slim Fit Polo T-shirt) from that collection.

You can add another condition with Title is not equal to…. and add the title of the product to exclude.

That’s it. The product with that title will be excluded from the smart collection. You can try other negative conditions as per your requirements to exclude single or multiple items at once.
