Ways to Track Magento 2 Google Ads Conversions

Tracking Google Ads in Magento 2 is easier if you already have a Google Analytics 4 property set up.

We recommend setting up the Magento 2 GA4 property and connecting it to your Google Ads account for tracking.

The main benefit of using Magento 2 GA4 for Google Ads is that it allows you to choose from predefined events for conversions and also supports tracking conversion values. You can learn how to set up Google Analytics 4 for Magento 2 here.

Here are the two other ways to set up Magento 2 Google Ads tracking:

  • Add Code Directly: Magento 2 lets you add the conversion code directly to your store’s admin panel. It’s a manual method to enable conversion tracking for your Magento 2 store.
  • Track via GTM: You can perform Magento 2 Google Adwords conversion tracking via GTM. Google Tag Manager (GTM) lets you manage multiple website tags for different marketing requirements without intervening in the Code.

Here, we will help you configure Google Ads Magento 2 by adding a conversion code directly to your store.

Google Ads will scan your website for the gtag.js and display a success message. Now, you can track every conversion you receive from your Google Ads campaigns.

Tracking conversion values requires adding a script to your success page to trigger the event. You’ll need a developer’s help to do that. We recommend setting up GA4 property for your site and connecting it with your Google Ads account for precise tracking.
