Looks like you have decided to upscale your eCommerce store by migrating from Wix to Shopify.

And now you’re looking for a simple product migration guide? Stop worrying; we have you covered. Here, you will find migration methods and steps to import products from Wix to Shopify.

Methods to Migrate Product from Wix to Shopify

There are 3 major ways in which you can migrate your products to Shopify. Each method is a code-free way to manage this task, but is distinctive in terms of the migration process and external dependence.

  • Migrate using CSV – This is a manual process where you use a CSV file to manage the migration. If not done carefully, there is a chance some of your data will not be migrated.
  • Use a third-party platform – Use a third-party migration service. It is best suited if you want any external help. The app comes with monthly charges, which can get expensive.
  • Hire migration experts – You can hire a Shopify migration expert for this task, where you only need to pay for the project and not worry about missing out on any data.

You can pick the one that feels convenient; now, let’s look at the steps to transfer products from Wix to Shopify manually.

How to Import Wix Products in Shopify Store?

Follow this simple four-step process to migrate products from Wix to Shopify.

  • Step 1: Export Products Data from Wix
  • Step 2: Prepare CSV File
  • Step 3: Import Products CSV into Shopify
  • Step 4: Verify Imported Products

Step 1: Export Products Data from Wix

Head to the Wix admin dashboard, from there navigate to Catalog > Store products > Products > More Actions > Export.  The CSV file will be downloaded for all the selected products.

However, Wix and Shopify both have different data structures, so you need to edit the CSV file before importing it to Shopify.

Step 2: Prepare CSV File

Now, you will start editing the Wix CSV file.

Change the column names as per the Shopify products template CSV. If your products have multiple options, create separate rows for each variant.

Prepare CSV File

Important points to consider while formatting the CSV file:

  • The first line must be the column header
  • Separate each column by a comma (,)
  • The maximum file size supported is 15 MB

Then download the formatted CSV file. After formatting, the CSV file is ready to be imported into Shopify.

Step 3: Import Products CSV into Shopify

Now, log in to your Shopify store. From your Shopify admin, go to Products > Import > Add file, and then add your CSV file.

After uploading the file, click Upload and preview.

After that, a dialog box will open to preview your products. Click “Import products,” and your products will be imported into Shopify.

Step 4: Verify Imported Products

The last step is to ensure the data is imported properly.

Go to Products in the Shopify admin panel and check that all the details are correct. Fix any formatting issues or missing product issues.

A quick tip is to see a preview of your store, where, with a visual glance, you will be able to point out areas of improvement or any missing product information.

With this, you have completed the product migration to Shopify manually.
