Magento 2 categories<\/a> are the building blocks of the catalog and provide ease of navigation to the customers. While Magento 2 products are the heart of an online store. If you have built a new Magento 2 store<\/a>, the primary step is to add new category and product in Magento 2<\/strong><\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newcomers in Magento 2 development might get confused with the backend architecture. To make their tasks easier, I’ve come up with the stepwise method to create new category and product in Magento 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steps to add new category and product in Magento 2:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Follow the below method and that’s it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Add New Magento 2 Category:<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Log in<\/strong> to Admin Panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Go to Catalog > Categories<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Click “Add Subcategories<\/strong>“<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Enter the details, enable the category<\/strong> and Include in Menu<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • Save<\/strong> the configuration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        • Similarly to create the root category, click on “Add Root Category<\/strong>” and follow the same steps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • To apply this root category to the store, go to Stores > All Stores<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Click “Main Website Store<\/strong>“<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          • Change the Root Category<\/strong> with your created root category from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

            • Add New Magento 2 Product:<\/h3>

              There are multiple product types and here I’m showing the example of a simple product type.<\/p>\n

              • Go to Catalog > Products<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Click “Add Product”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                • Enter the details of the product and select its category<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • It is essential that the product is in stock and the quantity is defined<\/strong> to be displayed in the frontend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
