How to Do Pre Order Sale on Shopify?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In order to enable pre-orders in Shopify, first set the payment capture method to manual. Doing so, you\u2019ll be able to accept the payments once the order gets processed. Then, you\u2019ll need to create a separate product page template for the pre-order products and assign products to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although you can use Shopify pre order apps for free, you can set up pre-orders on your store without the help of any app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s the step-wise method to do this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Capture Payments Manually<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Log into your Shopify admin<\/a> and go to Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

In the left-hand-side menu, click \u201cPayments.<\/strong>\u201d Scroll to the Payment capture method section and click \u201cManage.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Set the payment capture method to \u201cManually<\/strong>\u201d and click \u201cSave<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

Note: <\/strong>Shopify has a 7-day authorization period as a default. This means you\u2019ll be able to capture payments till 7 days from the date of authorization by the customer. But if you require a longer period, it is best to choose a third-party payment method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Allow Customers to Order Out-of-stock Products<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In this step, you need to enable the option that allows the customers to order items that are out of stock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is how you can do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Shopify admin page, go to products.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Upon clicking \u2018Products\u2019, you will reach your product page. Click the product you want to enable out-of-stock selling.<\/p>\n\n\n

You will reach the product details page. This page has all the information about your selected product. Scroll down till you see the option \u2018Continue selling when out of stock<\/strong>\u2019. You will need to check the option as it will be uncheck.<\/p>\n\n\n

Step 3: Create a Pre-Order Product Page Template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can not accept pre-orders on the normal product pages with the add to cart button. Therefore, you need to create a separate template for pre-order products to accept orders or pre-bookings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is how you can create a pre-order Shopify template.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Click the three dots beside the customize button and select \u201cEdit Code<\/strong>\u201d from the dropdown.<\/p>\n\n\n

In the left menu, click “Add a new template<\/strong>” and create a new product page template as shown below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select the Template type <\/strong>as product, select JSON<\/strong> type and enter a name for it. Click “Done<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n
