Magento 2 has six product types<\/a> out of which today I\u2019ll talk about the Magento 2 downloadable product<\/a> type and the order\u2019s status to allow customers to download them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magento 2 store admin can set one of the options: Either to allow the customers to download products after the invoice is generated or when the payment is under process and the order status is still pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enable downloading products based on the order status<\/a>, which can be configured using the below steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It depends on the type of business, payment methods used, and up to what extent you can trust the customers to complete the payment process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steps to Configure Order Item Status to Enable Downloads in Magento 2

Login<\/strong> to Magento 2 admin panel<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigate to Stores > Settings > Configuration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Select Catalog<\/strong> under the Catalog<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expand Downloadable Product Options<\/strong> section<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Order Item Status to Enable Downloads<\/strong> in Magento 2, choose Invoiced<\/strong> or Pending <\/strong>based on your business requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Invoiced<\/strong> \u2013 The product can be downloaded after the payment is completed and the invoice is generated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Pending <\/strong>\u2013 Even if the payment is pending and the invoice is not generated, the customer can download the product.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Click Save Config<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
