Fax or telefacsimile is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material (text and images), usually to a telephone number connected to a printer or other output device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magento 2, by default, offers an option to collect the customers\u2019 fax number details. However, it is up to the store admin to show fax field in Magento 2<\/strong><\/em> store. Likewise you can also show prefix field in Magento 2<\/a> that will help everyone add Mr., Miss., and Mrs. as a prefix for men and women respectively. If the store administrator wishes to enable the collection of the company field from the customer\u2019s address in a Magento 2 store, they will need to enable company field from address in Magento 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As fax is an outdated medium of communication, you may disable the fax field in the checkout step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But different business has different requirements. Some customers may use fax machines, particularly who want an invoice hard copy quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, it is no harm in collecting their fax numbers. You can follow the below steps to configure the fax field in the registration form in Magento 2 storefront. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Navigate to Stores > Settings > Customers<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Under Customer<\/strong>, select Customer Configuration<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Expand Name and Address Options<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Set Required in the field \u201cShow Fax\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Save<\/strong> the configuration<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
