The registration process in an online store can be customized based on customer behaviour and business requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Magento 2\u00a0also allows to\u00a0edit the customer accounts fields<\/a>\u00a0as required. The admin can configure customer registration page from the backend admin panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such field, middle name, in the registration page can be enabled or disabled and the post shows the stepwise method for the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Magento 2, the \u201cShow Middle Name\u201d field is an optional field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The middle name shows honour to a family person or a parent or a completely unrelated person. Many customers may have no problem in entering their middle-name in the customer details form. Even you can show suffix field in Magento 2<\/a> to add suffix such as \u201cJr.\u201d and \u201cSr.\u201d or else like \u201cI\u201d,\u201d II\u201d, \u201cIII\u201d, and so on, that indicates the first generation, the second generation and the third generation respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of them may write just the first character in the middle-name and some of them may write the first name of their parent as a middle-name. For instance, John A. Smith or John Adam Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Navigate to Stores > Settings > Customers<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Under Customer<\/strong>, select Customer Configuration<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Expand Name and Address Options<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Set Required in the field \u201cShow Middle Name\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Save<\/strong> the configuration<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
